About us
Establishing in 2013 of the journal Studia Geohistorica reflected the need often expressed within Polish scientific circles interested in studies and research which combine history and geography. The long tradition of historical geography as well as of the history of geography and historical cartography has undergone considerable changes in recent decades, caused by the development of new domains and disciplines like human geography, cultural geography, or humanistic geography, which refer both to historical and geographical methods.
In recent years, Studia Geohistorica implemented the programme ‘Support for Scientific Journals’ of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Afterwards, a two-year project ‘Development of Scientific Journals’ of the Ministry of Education and Science (contract no. RCN/SP/0167/2021/1 from 08.12.2022, state budget financing 54030,00 PLN for 2023-2024) has been implemented, aimed at further raising the scientific and editorial level of the journal published in open access and greater internationalisation (e.g. by publishing texts in English, updating the website, applying to reference databases, providing promotional copies).
